‘Wombo Lombo’ Singer Angélique Kidjo To Grace Johnnie Walker Jazz Show

Songstress Angélique Kidjo, real names ‘Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo’ has been confirmed as the guest artist for the 2019 Johnnie Walker Jazz Show.

The Johnnie Walker show will coincide with the International World Jazz Day on 30th April 2019 as organized by Mr. Isaiah Katumwa, one of Uganda’s finest saxophonists.

ABOUT ANGÉLIQUE KIDJO:

She is a Beninese singer-songwriter, actress, and activist who is noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos.

The BBC has included Kidjo in its list of the African continent’s 50 most iconic figures.

The Guardian has listed her as one of its Top 100 Most Inspiring Women in the World and Kidjo is the first woman to be listed among “The 40 Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa” by Forbes magazine.

Kidjo’s hit songs include; Agolo, We We, Adouma, Wombo Lombo, Afirika, Batonga, and her version of Malaika. Her album Logozo is ranked number 37 in the Greatest Dance Albums of All Time list compiled by Vice magazine’s Thump website.

She has won three Grammy Awards under Best Contemporary World Music Album for her 2015 album songs, 2015 Best Contemporary World Music for “Eve,” a tribute to the continent’s women and 2008 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album for USA.

In the same show Kidjo is blessed to be accompanied by Canadian-based Urban Jazz Premiere Sonic saxophonist ‘Darren Rahn’.

As portrayed by the ‘Time magazine’ as “Africa’s premier diva” Kidjo’s performance is already in high gear as Jazz music fans keep in high expectations to watch her live on stage.
