President Yoweri Museveni has accused Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi of attempting to foment trouble by discouraging foreign investors from coming into the country in a bid to undermine Uganda’s image abroad.
Museveni reportedly vowed that the Government would not sit back and watch as sections of opposition elements sabotaged the country’s growth to the detriment of other Ugandans who are interested in development other than politics.
During a three-hour closed-door summit of the Interparty Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD), held on Monday, Museveni reportedly said the Government could not continue letting Kyagulanyi organize musical concerts.
According to New Vision, sources that attended the meeting at Protea Hotel in Entebbe, the President reportedly said on one of the occasions when Bobi Wine travelled abroad, he used his platforms to discourage foreign investors from coming to Uganda.
The President reportedly said the legislator cannot be given a chance to thrive through music concerts in an economy that he is trying to sabotage.
“He said the Government is skeptical about the motives behind Bobi Wine’s discouraging of foreign investors, so they (Government) can also not let him work freely,” said one of the sources.
Museveni was reportedly responding to concerns raised by the Justice Forum (JEEMA) national chairperson, Mohammad Kibirige Mayanja, about the continued blocking of Kyagulanyi from organizing musical concerts, yet other opposition politicians are engaged in economic activities.
