As Police investigations proceed regarding Quality Shopping Village Namugongo shootings, where Arnold Ainebyona Mugisha, one of the owners of Hickory Bar and Restaurant was gunned down by Angoria Moses, a security guard attached to Saracen Security Company, details have emerged on how the entire event unfolded.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owesigire, the deceased and two of his colleagues who had come to do some shopping did not knock any cars as earlier reported.
“When they arrived at the supermarket, the deceased remained in the car as his friends entered the supermarket, only to emerge moments later with a supermarket trolley that they emptied it into the trunk of the car. When they let go of the trolley, it rolled and knocked another client’s car,” he said.
Mugisha and the company then tried to drive off but in the process of reversing, they allegedly knocked the foot of one security guards who has been identified as Awaze Babu. This prompted a heated exchange between the two guards and the occupants of the car.
“Angoria then rushed to the sentry box, picked his SAR gun and shot the Mugisha at the mouth while he was on his steering of the car,” Owesigire said.
While a mob descended on the shooter, Mugisha was rushed Independent Hospital, Kampala in Ntinda where he was pronounced dead.
A murder case has been opened at Kira Police Division under file case Vide Kira CRB 530/2019 as investigations continue.
The police say that Angoria is at Mulago Hospital nursing wounds he started from the mob beatings while the late Mugisha’s body was also taken to the Mulago Mortuary for postmortem.
