Being a new trend, parliaments world over are being invaded by entertainment icons, mostly musicians. In East Africa, the likes of Bobi Wine have inspired several other musicians to take on politics as their new career.
Former Wasafi artist Harmonize, real name Rajab Abdul Kahali, is the latest to reveal that he has political ambitions and plans to be a Parliamentarian in the Tanzanian government, representing Mtwara county.
Unlike Bobi Wine’s rivalry with Museveni, Harmonize has received backing from the president H.E John Pombe Magufuli. This could be duly because the singer is also in support of the government’s works.
President Magufuli endorsed the singer to run for a seat in the Tanzanian Parliament come 2020. He made the endorsement after Harmonize entertained him at a rally.
Often, Harmonize has pledged and publicly professed his support for Magufuli. He even recorded a song praising how hardworking and inspiring the Tanzanian Head Of State has turned out to be.
