MAKERERE UNIVERSITY ENTERS DAY TWO OF VIOLENT PROTEST ON 15% TUITION INCREMENT

MUWANGA DEO: Makerere University students yesterday took to the streets showing their dissatisfaction on the Administration’s decision to increase the students tuition to up to 15% per year for a period of five years.

Today the situation wasn’t any different as students started rioting early morning tempting security to step in firing a lot of tear gas at lumumba hostel and around kikoni area as the students hurled stones at police and burnt objects in the road.

Some of the guild leaders such as the guild president and speaker were earlier arrested in the process as they were part of the rioting team and one of the students suspended from the institution.
