Bobi Wine endorsed by over 30,000 Ugandans for Presidential seat

By Wycliff G; Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine’s journey to the 2021 Presidential polls has been brightened after a mammoth of Ugandans endorsed his candidature.

On Saturday 17th October, the National Unity Platform (NUP) secretariat team officially presented over 33,000 signatures from 109 districts of Uganda to the Electoral Commission in favour of their Presidential candidate, Bobi Wine.

This follows the party’s two months routine exercise in gathering the signatures from all over the county as per requirement by the Electoral commission for each Presidential aspirant.

Here is Bobi Wine’s post;

THANK YOU to all citizens who signed forms to endorse my candidature! For two months we had been collecting millions of signatures until Wednesday this week when the military and police raided us and stole them!

Since the deadline for submission was Saturday 17th October, we did not want to give them any chance to play their usual games with us. We wrote asking for an extension of time, but also worked hard for two days to get fresh signatures. We activated our structures countrywide and collected a fresh batch of signatures. Thankfully, there were a few districts whose signatures were still in the field by the time of the raid.

Yesterday, a team from our secretariat was able to submit 33,000 signatures from 109 districts of Uganda. The number of signatures required for nomination is 9,800 (100 signatures from 98 districts), so we surpassed the required number by far!

Bob Wine’s thrilling endorsement will see him being fully nominated this week.
