The Bobi Wine vs. Bebe Cool beef is to me a gladiatorial battle between aguably the two Uganda’s music titans. For almost a decade now, these two have gone at each other’s throat. They literally started off with subliminal jabs and moved up to body shots that is in some of their songs and on various media platforms they went to for interviews. We fans cheered on. Crews got in the mix. Digs got so personal and no one could stop it because we really enjoyed it.
Thankfully, this battle/beef/feud or whichever name you can give it is yet to end in tragedy like Biggie vs. 2Pac and some of you like my brother Vj JuniorProphet hope it ends in triumph and friendship but me nop.
This Friday at that 10 years of Eddy Kenzo’s concert at Serena, Bobi and Bebe were made to seat at the same table and later had to hug and shake hands……but this doesnt mean they’ve joined forces or that they have reconciled their differences especially for Bebe Cool’s side who doesnt want Bobi to slip away from him as he now has the most bragging rights because of the political move he took and I can understand why Bebe will never let Bobi be!!
You see, beefs in music tend to entice artists to constantly up the ante to one up their opponent as well as keep fans entertained in unique and creative ways.If we could track back last year, Fefe Bussi ’s lyrical attack on his song
“Who is Who” a diss song to his fellow rappers was so vicious that it not only jumpstarted his career again but became a verb in the music lexicon sparkling other rappers to come up with diss replies to him for almost 3 months.
Inevitably in this Bebe-Bobi feud, lines will be crossed. Families, friends, and relationships will always get dragged in and we the audience or fans to both camps will get divided and emotionally attack one another but that is how it issupposed to be.
