By Wycliff G; Today Tuesday, December 15, 2020 Ugandan singer Bebe Cool has rendered a helping hand to the release of Nigerian singers Omah Lay and Tems.
Omay Lay and Tems were arrested on Sunday 13th December, 2020 and put in custody at Katwe Police station and later transferred to Kitalya Prison where they have spent almost 48 hours.
This was after they violated the government of Uganda’s COVID-19 SOPs by performing in at a show organized at Ddumba Resort in Munyonyo, Kampala.
While working closely, with the Uganda Police Force and judiciary, Bebe Cool has managed to secure a release order from The Chief Magistrates Court of Makindye.
On the Court Order form, it reads that the charges against the accused have been withdrawn against them vide withdrawal Form Serial No. 4292 dated 15th December 2020.
The court further orders the Uganda Police to release the said Omah Lay and Tems from its custody forthwith unless held on other charges.
The ‘Infinity’ and ‘Try Me’ singers’ fateful days erupted after a selfie pic posted by Omah Lay at his sold-out show in Uganda going viral across all social media platforms.
This prompted Ugandan artists to throw severe criticism of government officials for allowing a foreign artist perform despite for them being left on the side lines of staging any performance amidst the COVID19 Pandemic.
The Ugandan Police was later forced to immediately arrest these artists and presented them to court.
Since then, Uganda as a country has received a backfire from Nigerians especially celebrities on social media as they demanded the immediate release of their two talents.
