The liable info reaching our news room this afternoon reveals how Uganda is set to host another international music star from Congo one ‘Awiro Longomba’.
This has been disclosed by Cents Events (famed for organizing the Uganda Entertainment Awards).
According to the company C.E.O Vincent Nsubuga, the Congolese music icon will be gracing the upcoming 2019 Uganda Entertainment Awards.
“We want to give Ugandans a retro-fused-with-contemporary experience. Growing up, many of us danced to Awilo Longomba’s music. And it will be like reminiscing the memories. He however also has a number of new hit songs,” relayed Nsubuga.
The rumor started when Vincent Nsubuga was seen frequenting the booking offices at the Kampala Serena Hotel, presumably to seal a date in 2019. Asked the exact date when the event will take place, Vincent was hesitant on disclosing many details, citing that it wouldn’t be a good idea for sponsors and stake holders at the moment.
“I can’t say the exact date. But it will be in April 2019,” relayed Vincent.
Awilo Longomba is a Congolese musician who was a drummer in Viva la Musica, Stukas, Nouvelle Generation and Loketo. In 1995, he finally quit drumming for singing and released his first album Moto Pamba with help from Shimita, Ballou Canta, Dindo Yogo, Dally Kimoko, Sam Mangwana, Syran Mbenza and Rigo Star
It should be noted that Awilo Longomba last performed in Uganda over ten years ago and it was really a golden African music experience the revelers that time will never live to forget.
