The Director of General Health Services MOH, Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa on 3rd December sent a letter to Health officials. He ordered them to make a follow-up on the vaccination of health workers against Covid-19.
He said that the order came after the government prioritized vaccination of the population against the scourge. Further revealing, he said the government identified this as one of the key requirements for the full reopening of the economy.
He however noted that he is aware that some officers have not completed the vaccination yet.
Dr. Abdorn Birungi, the Rubaga District Health Officer says he is compiling data to assess all health workers’ responses to the call.
He also vowed to take action as directed by the Director of General Health Services in Uganda about those not responding positively.
Gilbert Ahumuza, the acting Rukiga district health officer says approximately all officers in the district have responded to the call. He adds that his office is trying to ascertain and see if all health workers have received their jab.
He further vowed that those hiding from getting the jab are risking the loss of their jobs.
