UBC Speaks Out On Its Suspended Journalist Related To Nabbanja’s Video

Ivan Kaahwa, a journalist working with UBC TV happened to be the prime suspect in sharing the “eby’okwogera bimbuze” video clip. In the same viral clip, the Prime Minister almost fell off the chair as she tried to lean against the swinging chair.

On Friday, the journalist allegedly got suspended on orders of the Prime Minister herself. Since then, she has threatened to take criminal charges against the entire crew that appeared in her office on Friday.

UBC TV said the regrettable incident has pitched the corporation’s public image into bad light.

“We have learnt with concern a video circulating on social media where Rt Hon Prime Minister was addressing the media in a press conference on cabinet decisions. Sources have attributed the unfortunate video that has since gone viral to our reporter. We had assigned him to this particular presser,” the national broadcaster said.

UBC further said their management has taken the matter seriously and has reached out to UCC.

Their reason for contacting the Uganda Communications Commission is to ascertain the exact source of this rather regrettable video.

UBC TV also promised cooperation with relevant government agencies taking on the matter. This will ensure that they take appropriate action against the probable culprits.
