Police arrests man forging Covid 19 vaccination Certificates for travelers at Entebbe Airport

The Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Mr Luke Owoyesigire has said Aviation Police at Entebbe international Airport has arrested a 29 year old man identified as Peter Ssempebwa over forging Interpol certificates and Covid 19 vaccination certificates that he sold to intending travelers.

 

Owoyesigire said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after close to a four months man hunt for him.

“The suspect was arrested after a group of nine migrant workers who were intending to travel to Saudi Arabia under Cornell recruitment company were intercepted by the airport authorities on 16th April this year suspicion of that they were carrying forged Interpol certificates of good conduct and police forensic clearance certificates. We arrested the director of the recruitment company one Jacob Oola who told us he got the papers from Ssempebwa of Nasser road” he said.

Owoyesigire said police launched a manhunt for Ssempebwa who is a resident of kabuuma Zone in Makindye who went into hiding until when he was arrested on Tuesday this week.

Owoyesigire said upon his arrest, a search was mounted at his residence and workplace at Nasser road where fake covid 19 vaccination certificates along with forged stamps of different government agencies were discovered.

 

Owoyesigire said the suspect will be produced in the courts of law to answer charges of forgery contrary to section 342, 342 (a) and 347 of the Penal code Act.
