By Wycliff; Sad news has just shuttered the entire nation, Wednesday 12th afternoon after former Presidential candidate Maj Gen (Rtd) Benon Biraaro Buta passing away.
The 61year-old retired army officer is reported to have been battling with serious cancer for quite a long period of time until today when he breathed his last at Kampala hospital, his family confirmed.
Before his retirement, the former 2016 Presidential candidate had greatly served under the different military departments.
Biraaro and several prominent individuals in the Ugandan military and business started a public-private-partnership with the aim of raising investment funds locally to invest in local infrastructure and industry. Biraaro was the founder president and lead investor in Local Investment for Transformation.
General Biraaro was a married father of the Christian faith.
The late is also reported to have built a church in the village where he was born, in Isingiro District.
