Many people, mostly the Baganda raised eyebrows concerning their Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s 66th birthday cake which according to most of them was designed like a casket.
The Buganda subjects quickly connected the dots to the already mysterious health whereabouts of their ruler. It was a very long time since they had seen him in public, and when they did finally set eyes on him on his birthday, it was not such a good sight to see. He looked so ill.
There are reports that the Kabaka has been in and out of hospital for the past months treating severe throat cancer. Whereas other unconfirmed reports suggest he was poisoned.
The people who were angered the most by the “casket cake” are those who are connecting the dots from Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi to death.
However, for Kenneth Nsibambi, the man who baked Kabaka Muwenda Mutebi’s 66th birthday cake, he has quickly defended himself on the shape and color of the cake.
“I would like to make some points clear here about Kabaka’s cake. It’s not the baker that decides the color and shape of the Kabaka’s birthday cake but the royal family does and this time around, that’s the color and shape that was prepared,” Nsibambi said, adding that he was sorry for all those that have been negatively affected.
According to Nsibambi, he was only working on orders of his clients, who happened to be the royal kingdom of Buganda this time round. Nsibambi, who is a Muganda himself denied any wrongdoing and swore that he only wishes long life and good health for his king.
