An Explosion of Factories is Due to Increase in Electricity – Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has said that Uganda is going to witness an explosion of industries. He attributed this phenomenon to the country’s prioritization of generating more electricity and the development of other infrastructure by the National Resistance Movement Government. ‘’There is an explosion of factories because of increase in electricity. This is the fourth factory I have commissioned this week,” he said.

The President was on Friday speaking at the commissioning of the Ntinda-based SAACHI Assembling Plant for home electric appliances in Kampala. The President who had earlier toured the plant, said that in this week alone, he has commissioned a total of four factories including 2 tea factories in Bushenyi District and Simba Cement factory in Tororo District.

SAACHI Manufacturers (U) LTD, which has been importing since 2004, started assembling and making their products in the country effective 2017. Their products include LED television sets, speakers, DVDs and flat iron boxes among others. President Museveni assured SAACHI Group of government support in order to see them fully exploit their potential.

The Director of SAACHI in Uganda, Mr. Anand Nainani informed the President about the company’s high quality and affordable products. He saluted Mr. Museveni for his support to the company and for the conducive investment in general in the country.

SAACHI Company’s activities of assembling their products in the country are in support of the government’s initiative of creating employment opportunities in the country as well as exploiting internal and regional markets.
