Bobi Wine Copied Besigye’s ‘People Power’ Slogan – Nandala Mafabi

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi has accused Kyadondo East MP and singer Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine of copying Dr Kizza Besigye’s ‘people power’ slogan. Since emerging on the political scene in 2017, Bobi Wine has been campaigning under the ‘People Power’ slogan.

He has denied claims that he was planning to form a party out of the ‘People Power’ slogan. But according to Mafabi, Bobi Wine copied the catchphrase of Dr Besigye and his people’s government, formed after the 2016 presidential election.

Besigye’s defiance camp of the FDC held a swearing in ceremony for the four-time presidential candidate after the 2016 poll.

They claimed Besigye had beaten President Yoweri Museveni at the ballot.

Besigye would later form a ‘people’s government’.

He still faces treason charges for the controversial inauguration.

“Dr was saying, ‘we want power to be returned to the people… Now for them, they have changed to ‘people power’,” Mafabi said during an NBS Thursday morning show.

“People Power” picked the catchphrase from FDC. They have changed the words of Dr Kizza Besigye.”
