It’s not Easy to Advise Museveni; He Thinks He Knows Everything – Presidential Advisor

President Yoweri Museveni’s senior media advisor on media relations John Nagenda has revealed the difficult of advising the three-decade leader. According to Nagenda, Museveni claims knowledge of many things, and will not readily take advice.

“My job is to try and advise the president [but] he is not easily advised,” Nagenda told NBS at the weekend.“If you know him [Museveni], he thinks he knows everything; so, you have to be quite cunning to put your point across.”

Asked if he had personal grudges with the president, Nagenda said: “We [he and the president] get on very well.”

He also spoke on Uganda’s political future, suggesting that premier Dr Ruhakana Rugunda was capable of succeeding Museveni.

But Nagenda was worried that the country could slide back into anarchy.

“Our world [in reference to Uganda as a country] has been undergoing terrible times,” he noted.

“I had thought that we would never slide back.”

John Nagenda on Bobi Wine Presidency Hopes

On singer and Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, Nagenda said the new kid on the political block had close to two decades to whet his experience and skills to become president.

Referring to him as “this young man Kyagulanyi”, Nagenda said Bobi Wine needed “another 15 years” of being seriously coached by somebody”.

“I think he could probably do it but I laugh when people say he is ready to take over a country,” said Nagenda.
