Security agencies have arrested at least nine people suspected to be terrorists, Uganda Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima has said. According to a statement issued on Saturday, police and sister security agencies combed Namungona in Lubaga Division of Kampala Friday night for suspected terrorists.
The operation was “targeting a terrorist cell in the area”, said Kayima. “A total of nine suspects were arrested and are currently being screened to establish their true identities and to have their statements recorded,” noted Kayima.
“The suspects are currently held in various police stations of Kampala Metropolitan Area.”

Meanwhile police has also revealed that Abdul Kateregga, one of the suspected terrorists, succumbed to injuries sustained during the arrest.
