The incident occurred at 9:45am on Tuesday near Kampala Capital City Authority offices in Makindye
The shooting followed a quarrel between the presidential advisor on security Maj. Gen. Kasirye Ggwanga’s children and singer Cathy Kusasira’s male aides.
“Maj Gen Ggwanga’s children were buying chips when the aides of Ms Kusasira arrived in car, whose music was loud. Maj Gen Ggwanga’s children told Ms Kusasira’s aides to turn down the volume, but they refused. Maj Gen Ggwanga’s children said they would call their father and burn their cheap car,” Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said.
Kasirye Gwanga would later join the confusion, insisting that Kusasira’s team reduce the volume of their music.
Ms Kusasira’s aides told Maj Gen Ggwanga that he wasn’t above the law. Then verbal exchange ensued. It is said Ggwanga ordered one of his bodyguards to bring him his gun, and he then shot the tyre of Ms Kusasira’s car, before driving off.
Preliminary police findings indicate that trouble started after Gwanga’s children asked the occupants in Kusasira’s Premio vehicle, registration number, UAY 083Y to turn down the loud music they were playing in vain.
Gwanga advised ‘stupid’ Kusasira to go and report him to Museveni. Gwanga said he shot at Kusasira’s vehicle because she “acted with stupidity” when he tried to talk to her and instead just started shouting at him.
Police have since commenced investigations into circumstances. “We are investigating a case of malicious damage’’ the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango said.
In an interview, with Radio Simba, Gwanga said, He will not go to Police to record a statement over the incident.
In 2017, Gwanga burnt down a tractor found on his land in Lweza. He threatened to shoot dead the driver of the tractor who he accused of attempting to grab his land. .
