The flash point Nabukeera and Qualicel arcades in downtown Kampala were again scenes of clashes yesterday as anti-riot police battled angry traders and vendors who ply their trade in lockups on the buildings whose ownership is contested by the late Charles Muhangi’s family and businessmen Drake Lubega and Yanga Mansour.
Yesterday’s clashes erupted after traders were locked out on account of non-payment of three months’ rent arrears. This also pushed them to set up a strike as a way of showing their dissatisfaction and anger to the land lord.
