Now with charcoal production spreading so fast, government has come out to reveal that it is in the final steps of streamlining the charcoal industry which it says is unsustainable leading to deforestation, land degradation and a multitude of other undesirable effects.
Hon. Peter Lakeris, minister of state for minerals says such is intended to preserve the environment and safeguard climate change.
As we speak right now, due to improved poverty, people had resumed to charcoal burning as the only easy way of getting money and feeding their families.
