City lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi has filed a petition against president Yoweri ,Museveni, government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo and Political Commissar of the Uganda police force AIGP Asan Kasingye on behalf of a one Seguya Hillary Innocent Taylora a student at Harvard University who alleges that the trio blocked him from accessing all their social media pages which deprives him of the right to Information.
Sseguya is a known student critic to the Museveni government that he is considered a pain in the neck by the Ugandan President who not only criticizes him but also negatively responds to President Museveni’s comments on all social media platforms which is said to having been the cause of blocking the student in order to bar him from spreading his critical comments on the said platform.
The out spoken no nonsense Lawer Mabirizi stepped in to help the young man acquire justice by filling a petition in the Ugandan high court suing the three parties infringing on Seguya’a right of access to information. The lawyer in an interview says that the president has no right to block any citizen because government official pages are a public place where any one is free to get information from.
Mabirizi added that if the high court grants his petition and fulfills it then that will be a win win situation but if it fails then they will look for other alternatives.
