By Website reporter; Today Tuesday 27th August 2019 will be marked in the country’s history as the revived Uganda Airlines flies again after 19 years out of service.
According to the Ministry of Works spokesperson Susan Kataike, the inaugural flight is set for this morning and will carry technical officers, government officials, and media to Nairobi.
The 55-minute flight will depart from Entebbe Airport to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by 10 am.
Sources indicate that the change in launch date was made for marketing purposes, with the announcement indicating the Ministry of Works made the change to fly ahead of their maiden commercial flight.
Wednesday, however, remains the day of their maiden commercial flight to Nairobi, but with scheduled flights to Juba and Mogadishu having set the pace. The Airline will take off at 6:00 am and will reach Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) at 7:15 am as it starts a business on the lucrative Nairobi route on Wednesday.
Uganda Airlines will give options to travelers on the busy Nairobi route, and will also have the only direct flight to Mogadishu, in Somalia.
Uganda Airlines commenced operations in 1977 and stopped in May 2001.
