Last Friday, the High Court reinstated UPC Party president Hon. Jimmy Akena as a member of the Milton Obote Foundation. This came after the party petitioned court over Akena’s suspension from the foundation by senior members over what they termed as misconduct.
Akena was reinstated amidst jubilation from his supporters although some members from the party did not welcome him. The non-supporting members say that they will not sit and watch as Akena is reinstated.
Micheal Osinde, the party spokesperson said that it was wrong for UPC members to cast out Akena from the party. Osinde said that wrangles escalated during the 2016 general elections where some members wanted DP to join Amama Mbabazi’s Go Forward party which Akena declined to participate in.
in addition, Milton Obote Foundation supported Mbabazi’s party activities without the notice of UPC members.
Jimmy Akena is son to the former president of Uganda and Founding father of the Milton Obote Foundation,Apolo Milton Obote.
