By Wycliff G; Prominent singer cum politician Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu aka Bobi Wine has applauded comrade Ronald Mayinja for his braveness when he delivered a confronting message towards President Y.K Museveni last week.
On Friday, singer Ronald Mayinja amused the entire crowd as he performed a political song ‘Mzei Bizeemu’ that provokes the NRM government, in President Museveni’s presence an act that is still causing a ruckus in the country.
“Ronald Mayinja, my artist of the year!” said Bobi Wine while commenting on Museveni’s attendance of Catherine Kusasira’s show at Serena hotel where he met Mayinja.
“In a time when so many people have chosen to remain silent in the face of so much injustice; in a time when many artistes have chosen to play it safe; in a time when many Ugandans are putting their careers, safety, and comfort ahead of their nation’s redemption, we must celebrate those who have chosen courage over fear; good over evil!” Bobi Wine noted.
He said his brother, fellow artiste and People Power co-coordinator Ronald Mayinja is one such Ugandan.
Bobi Wine said when some of his colleague artistes used a music concert as an opportunity to “massage the dictator” and make personal requests for assistance, Ronald Mayinja used the opportunity to “call out the dictator” in his face.
“Thank you, brother, for being courageous and selfless. Just continue on this path- history will be kind to you!”
He added: “Even if those intolerant cowards cut your performance short because they could not stand the truth, the message was delivered loud and clear. I SALUTE YOU SIR!”
In response, Museveni said he disagreed with Mayinja who was saying “Bizeemu”, “as if to say that this NRM government is committing crimes against its people!”
“I advise the artists to use their talents in ways that do not sow divisions based on lies,” he said.
Museveni further explained that the government of Uganda was working against all the threats and crimes against Uganda and her people.
