Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde Appeals For Rwanda’s Support In His Presidential Candidature

By Wycliff G; Former Security Minister and Presidential aspirant Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde has called upon Rwanda’s support to his candidature in the upcoming Ugandan Presidential elections.

During his interview on a local TV station on Thursday morning, Tumunkunde said  that its high time Rwanda utilized the opportunity and backed up at least someone who wants to cause a change in Uganda.

“An impasse! I hope we are following the same developments on this issue. However, if I was Rwanda, I would support anyone who wants to cause a change in Uganda,” stated Tumukunde.

Tumukunde’s hint on Uganda-Rwanda relationship come in days after he announced that he will be contending his longtime close friend and boss, H.E YK Museveni in the 2021 Presidential elections.

It’s also in the same line-note that the meeting between Uganda and Rwanda in Katuna/Gatuna last month was unfruitful after Rwanda accused Uganda of unsettling Kigali.

This was the third time H.E YK Museveni & Paul Kagame met since the border-closure in March 2019 and forth Quadripartite Heads of State Summit to pave mediation between the neighboring countries.

It was concluded in the meeting that before Rwanda normalizes border relations, Uganda should substantiate allegations raised by Rwanda of housing fugitives that have for so long sabotaged its security.
