President Museveni Eases Lockdown Amidst 14Days Extension

By Wycliff G; On Monday 04, May, H.E YK Museveni announced new measures to ease the total lockdown to combat Corona Virus in Uganda that started 45days ago.

Among the new counters laid for the partial opening the economy include; agriculture, construction, hardware shops, wood and metal workshops, vehicle garages, restaurants, wholesalers and warehouses all allowed to operate.

However, all the operators and clients in the above corridors will have to observe social distancing guidelines, wear facemasks and gloves.

Restaurants will only be allowed to offer takeaway services.

Museveni also noted that insurance practitioners will be allowed to operate and only 30 lawyers under the Uganda Law Society, will be added onto the list of essential service providers.

“You can’t fail to sleep for fear of dreaming a bad dream. We shall start slowly to open up but without undoing our previous achievements,” stated President Museveni.

Uganda’s CIVID-19 status currently stands at 97cases with 55 recoveries and no deaths.
