By Wycliff G; Ever since the first COVID-19 Pandemic cases were reported in Uganda that led to the border closure and airport shutdown, over 2500 stuck nationals across the globe have been on their knees pleading for the government approval for their return.
Unfortunately, the process of returning them has been matched very costly and complex as revealed by the state minister for Foreign Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem last month.
This means that everyone with desirable obligations of coming back to Uganda has to foot the flight fees and quarantine bills by him/herself upon arrival.
To smoothen the process, the government has offered the Uganda Airlines for the repatriation exercise that is expected to kick off in this new week.
Among the first groups that the national carrier is expected to jet bac home is one in South Africa as confirmed by Mr. Don Wanyama the Senior Press Secretary to H.E YK Museveni.
“Ugandans in South Africa, Uganda Airlines has this repatriation flight arranged. If you want to come back home, get yourself a ticket,” stated Mr. Don Wanyama.
