By Wycliff G; The ‘People Power Movement’ has today unveiled its political wing ‘The National Unity Platform (NUP)’ with an ‘umbrella’ as the platform symbol to be used in the forthcoming General Election.
In its delegates conference held at the People Power movement headquarters in Kamwokya, Hon. Kyagulanyi was elected as the leader of the platform.
Different politicians turned up to witness the event of the NUP, the political wing of the People Power Movement going forward.
According to Hon. Kyagulanyi, they will turn to officializing People Power into an alliance consisting of different sister political parties.
“In the coming days, we shall embark on a process of formalizing the People Power Alliance. This shall be comprised of different political formations and parties that we have been working with and those willing to join us going forward,” said Hon. Kyagulanyi.
“I stand here today to announce to the nation that we are unveiling the National Unity Platform, the political wing of the People Power Movement,” he added.
For the past 3years, People Power movement has been having lengthy conversations about whether to form a political party or not.
At the end of 2018, the pressure group’s legal team tried to reserve the name ‘People Power’ unfortunately, they found out that the name had been already flagged.
