By Website Writer; A chopper belonging to the Uganda People’s Defence Air Forces (UPDAF) has crashed at Entebbe near Spennah beach, Imbaraga has learnt.
It’s understood that the incident happened at around 2:15PM on Thursday when a blue UPDF ranger jet with a female and male pilot collapsed near the beach.
Security has since cordoned off the area not allowing anyone to come close to the scene of the crash where the wreckage of the chopper is.
Journalists too have been barred from getting closer to the scene of the crash.
Ambulances have evacuated the injured but according to a source, the female pilot by names of Captain Caroline Busingye has died.
The UPDF spokesperson, Big Gen. Flavia Byekwaso has since issued a statement about the incident, read it in-part:
This afternoon at about 2:15pm a jet ranger piloted by two cadet trainees on a mutual training flight came down immediately after take off near Lido beach. The two were rushed to hospital to ascertain their health. Our aviation team is on ground to investigate the mishap.
