The president of Uganda has today sworn in for another 5 years in office after emerging as the winner of the 2021 presidential race that saw him beat his counterparts garnering a 58% of the vote followed by Robert Kyagulanyi who emerged with around 36%.
The ceremony that was celebrated at Kololo ceremonial grounds saw a number of guests that arrived to witness the swearing-in ceremony including the presidents; Salva Kiri of south Sudan, Uhuru Kenyata of Kenya among others
At exactly 11:35 the president was sworn in by Chief Justice Alfonse Winny Dollo, therefore, giving him his 6th term in office as the president of the Republic of Uganda.
The newly elected President then received the statutory instruments of power such as the National court of arms, the public seal, the national seal of defence and the sword after which the instruments were delivered to the secretary to cabinet for safe custody.
President Museveni then received a 21 gun salute and the national flag was raised as he inspected the guard parade.
The five-year term marks the beginning of a 40-year leadership rule President Museveni will run until 2026 when the country is expected to yet again elect a new leader into office.
