Robinah Nabbanja approved by Parliament as the first female Prime Minister

By Website Writer; Hon. Robinah Nabbanja’s appointment as Prime Minister has been approved by the Parliament of Uganda.

This makes her the first woman to be appointed to that position in the history of Uganda.

Taking it to her social media, Hon. Nabbanja has accepted her appointment in the new position as she thanked the Parliament upon her approval as well as Ugandan for entrusting her with roles.

#Acceptance I deeply appreciate the vote of confidence by Parliament & Ugandans at large. For the first time in history, Uganda has a female Prime Minister. This assignment is there an assurance that gov’t is committed to Woman emancipation & Empowerment. I’m here to Serve!” Hon. Robinah Nabbanja stated.

Hon. Nabbanja is the Kakumiro District Woman legislature & former State Minister for Health in charge of General Duties.

For the past one week, Hon. Nabbanja’s new appointment has sparked mixed feelings from different politicians in the country and the public.

She replaces Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who was named to the post of Envoy For Special Duties In The Office Of The President of Uganda.

About Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja:

She was born in the present-day Kakumiro District, on 17 December 1969. She attended Nkooko Primary School. She then studied at St. Edward’s Secondary School Bukuumi, for both her O-Level and A-Level studies, obtaining both the Uganda Certificate of Education and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education from there.

Between 1990 and 2000, Nabbanja obtained certificates and diplomas in leadership, management and development studies, from various institutions, including Uganda Martyrs University, Uganda Management Institute, the Islamic University in Uganda, and the National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi. Her Bachelor of Democracy and Development Studies and her Master of Arts in Development Studies were both awarded by Uganda Martyrs University.
