By Website Writer; The Commander in Chief of the armed forces, Gen. YK Museveni has appointed his son Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the new commander of land forces.
According to the document from the office of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Spokesperson, this website has come across, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has replaced Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu who has been appointed deputy Commander of Defense Forces.
Gen. Muhoozi’s new appointment comes in just six months after being tasked by his father Gen. Museveni to head the Special Forces Command (SFC), an elite unit in the UPDF in charge of protecting the President and the first family.
Gen. Muhoozi will now be replaced by Brig Peter Chandia who has been his deputy at SFC.
Here are some of the hierarchy reshuffles in the UPDF;
– Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) – Lt. Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi
– Deputy CDF – Lt. Gen. Peter Elwelu
– Commander Land Forces – Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba
– Joint Chief of Staff – Maj. Gen. Leopold Eric Kyanda
