During his presser on Wednesday, Dr. Besigye said that it’s more likely that the poor will succumb to COVID-19 because of the high costs of treatment that some hospitals have set.

Dr. Besigye is also touched by the escalating discrimination in the country.

If you don’t have money right now you die because they have their hospitals the poor can’t go to. This discrimination is intensifying the gap in the country,” Dr. Besigye said.

His remarks come in a fortnight after President Museveni imposed a 42-days lockdown in Uganda to help curb the lethal second wave of Corona Virus.

Uganda has registered 79,977 as a cumulative number of COVID-19 cases and 1027 deaths as of Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
