By Website Writer; News reaching our desks indicate that popular National Unity Platform (NUP) Vlogger, Fred Lumbuye Kajjubi will soon be released from detention in Instabul, Turkey.
The announcement was first made by the shadow foreign affairs minister and MP Hon. Muwada Nkunyingi, who revealed that the Turkish authorities have consented to set Lumbuye free after almost 4months since his arrest.
Hon. Nkunyingi also asserts that all key legal applications have been submitted and Lumbuye is staring at his release from detention.
“The legal team in Turkey confirmed to us that Turkish Authorities notified them Fred Lumbuye would be “conditionally,” released as all key legal applications were concluded,” Nkunyingi said in a statement.
Hon. Nkunyingi also said that their legal team remains committed to promptly follow up on all processes to see Lumbuye free.
Last month, Hon. Nkunyingi confirmed to have sighted Lumbuye in Turkey though under detention.
This was after rumors sparked online claiming that the Ugandan government critic vlogger had been deported back to Uganda and held in Gulu Military barracks.
After his arrest in June, the government of Uganda confirmed to the press that Lumbuye had been arrested in Turkey and he was waiting to be deported to face different charges.
