UPDF opens up on US sanctions against CMI head, Maj Gen Abel Kandiho

By Website Writer; The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has talked about the financial sanctions against Chief of Military Intelligence Maj Gen. Abel Kandiho by the United States of America.

On Tuesday, news circulated on various media platforms that the US had issued financial embargoes on UPDF’s Chief of Military Intelligence Maj Gen Abel Kandiho.

According to a press statement issued by UPDF Spokesperson Brig Gen. Flavia Byekwaso, the country was officially notified by the US about the unilateral financial sanctions against Maj Gen Abel Kandiho.

Uganda and UPDF as reputable government institutions, they are saddened by the decision taken by the US, a country they have all along considered friendly, a partner and a great ally.

UPDF also promises to seek clarification from the authorities in the United States of America inorder to forge a better way forward.

However, sanctioned Maj Gen Kandiho proves extremely not bothered by the financial bans on him.

Maj Gen Abel Kandiho says the financial sanctions imposed on him by the US are politically motivated and inconsequential.

I am not bothered by the so-called sanctions, I have no business with the US. I am concentrating on my work. The threats we have in the rehion need more concentration. I will not allow to be diverted. The sanction is political and am not a politician,” Maj Gen. Abel Kandiho said told a media station.
