By Website Writer; Rwanda President H.E Paul Kagame has talked about the renewed relationship between Rwanda and Uganda after almost 3years of diplomatic feud.
Rwanda and Uganda’s regained collaboration commenced on the 31st January 2022 by the opening up of the Gatuna/Katuna border after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rwanda confirmed last week.
“As it is the case for the other land border posts in the country, health authorities of Rwanda and Uganda will work together to put in place necessary measures to facilitate movement in the context of Covid-19,” said according to the statement by Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
According to President Kagame, President Museveni’s son Lt Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s words with him were grateful and have positively turned up emotions of citizens of both countries.
However, President Kagame is not satisfied with the steps taken so far to mend the broken relationship as more strong foundations should be laid further.
“Some people are satisfied with the official photos and see it as an end its self. This is not my case. I appreciate the words of President Museveni’s son. But I hope that we can go beyond that and come up with concrete solutions,” H.E Paul Kagame stated.
Rwanda attributes the re-opening of Katuna border to General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s visit.
Muhoozi visited Kigali on January 22, 2022, and held a long meeting with President Paul Kagame.
On his return, the government of Uganda made multiple reshuffles in security.
Muhoozi Kainerugaba also promised to resolve the 3year Diplomatic row within the next 5days which has finally happened.
