By Website Writer; The President of Uganda and Commander in Chief of the UPDF has appointed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho as Chief of Joint Staff of Uganda Police Force.
In the new position Maj Gen Kandiho switches Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba who has now been appointed the Ugandan Delegate to the South Sudan Peace Monitoring Mechanism.

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander in Chief of the UPDF has tonight appointed Maj Gen Abel Kandiho to the position of the Joint Staff of the Uganda Police Force.
Maj Gen Kandiho replaces Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba, who in the same appointment orders has been appointed the Ugandan Delegate to the South Sudan Peace Monitoring Mechanism in Juba.
The Ministry of Defense/Veteran Affairs and UPDF fraternity duly congratulates the General Officers for the well-deserved appointments and wishes them success in their new respective tours of duty.
This comes in barely a month since Maj Gen Kandiho was appointed as head of South Sudan transitional security monitoring and verification mechanism.
This sparked verge after he was sanctioned by the United States over human rights violation, hence President Museveni scrapping him from the head of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) position where he had served since January 2017.
According to the US statement, Maj Gen Kandiho sometimes personally involved in leading interrogations of detained individuals, often singled out for their political views, their nationality or for criticizing government.
