By Website Writer; The Ministry of Health – Uganda has stopped the mandatory COVID-19 testing of all incoming travelers at Entebbe International Airport with effect from today, 16 February 2022.
This follows a cabinet decision on Monday, 14 February 2022 that confirmed the suspension of mandatory testing informed by; the decline in positive cases identified at the airport.
It’s also understandable that this was due to the reduction in global threat of new variants of concern (VoC) suggesting reduced risk of importation of VoC that will increase community transmission.
“The Ministry of Health would like to inform the public that the mandatory COVID-19 testing of all incoming travelers at Entebbe International Airport upon arrival has been stopped with effect from today, 16 February 2022,” a statement from the Ministry of Health reads.
However, the Ministry notes that the requirement for COVID-19 testing 72hours before boarding for both incoming and exiting travelers remains in effect.
Health workers will continue to screen all travellers both at arrival and departure and verify their COVID-19 test certificates.
