By Website Writer; The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairperson, H.E YK Museveni has called for a special caucus meeting to discuss on the issue of the new Speaker of Parliament.
According to a statement issued on Monday evening by the government Chief Whip, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, President Museveni instructed him to mobilize members of the NRM parliamentary caucus for a meeting slated for Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds at 2PM.
The letter further directs all members to undergo a COVID test prior attending.
The gathering is expected to smoothly tenure a single candidate under the NRM ticket to contest for the Speakership race on Friday.
This comes in after the government considering Speaker of Parliament elections to fill the now vacant seat following Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah’s death last Sunday.
