By Website Writer; The Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has withdrawn from the Speakership race.
In a statement issued on her Twitter on Wednesday, Dr. Aceng confirmed to have rested her intention to stand for the Position of Speaker of Parliament of Uganda.
Dr. Aceng who is also the Woman Member of Parliament for Lira City, notes that she has not found adequate time to seek advise from her political party superiors, family and friends.
She also vowed to committedly continue to serve her position in the Ministry of Health.
“I’ve taken a decision to withdraw my intention to stand for the Position of Speaker of Parliament of Uganda. I have not had enough time to consult my party leadership, colleagues and family. I pledge to continue serving diligently in my current capacity as Minister for Health,” Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng stated.
On Tuesday, the Health Minister joined 12 other National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPs to battle for the vacant Speaker of Parliament seat.
The Speakership seat will be filled on Friday, March 25, 2022 in a ballot box election to be held at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
