By Website Writer; The Chief Justice of Uganda Alfonse Owiny-Dollo has today Thursday, March 31, 2022 visited Buganda Kingdom headquarters, reportedly to officially apologize to Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi over his recent controversial comments.
In company of former Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) President Olara Otunnu, Owiny-Dollo arrived at Bulange Mengo and was received by Buganda Kingdom Premier (Katikkiro), Charles Peter Mayiga.
The special meeting is also being attended by religious leaders and other delegates from both Buganda Kingdom and government.
Last week at Speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s vigil in Muyenga, Owiny-Dollo claimed that Kabaka was airlifted in 2021 using the Presidential jet to Germany to seek improved medical attention.
The Chief Justice also indirectly pinned ‘Baganda’ for spearheading the recent protests at the University of Washington Medical Centre in Seattle USA where the Late Speaker Oulanyah had been admitted before he passed-on over the overwhelming costs of his treatment (Ugx. 1.7Billion) drained from the Ugandan budget.
Dollo’s revelations immediately sparked controversies online with majority demanding for his apology.
However earlier this week, Dollo proved remorseful for his articulations towards the Kabaka of Buganda.
“I hereby unequivocally, unreservedly and of my free volition, wholly retract that reference and also hereby tender my apology to His Majesty the Kabaka. I will…communicate to the Katikkiro of Buganda in writing,” Owiny-Dollo said, according to Daily Monitor.
“We came here in peace and we leave here knowing we are closer. After this, we are better persons than before the meeting. I thank the delegation that accompanied me here,” Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo said during the meeting today at Bulange Mengo.
Katikkiro Mayiga and Justice Owiny-Dollo are expected to address the media after the meeting.
