By Website Writer; The newly elected Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Hon. Nobert Mao is set to take the oath today.
According to the info reaching our desks, the swearing-in ceremony will be presided over by H.E YK Museveni at State House – Entebbe on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Hon. Mao the over 10-years chairman of the Democratic Party (DP) was named Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs by President Museveni last week, steering up confusion in the opposition radar of the country.
This sparked at the heels after he signed cooperation agreement with President Museveni who is the chairman for the ruling party, National Resistance Movement (NRM).
The Minister designate, successfully underwent the Parliamentary vetting the next day, that slate him ready for swearing in.
On Tuesday, Hon. Mao addressed the weekly party press conference amidst heavy security deployment at City House (DP headquarters) in Kampala.
This was also his first public speech ever since he was named in the controversial place in cabinet.
In the Press conference Hon. Mao firmed his place as the DP head who is ready to deliver services not to only the opposition side but instead all Ugandans without bias.
“Am a leader for all Ugandans not opposition only. It’s my duty to serve without bias,” Hon. Nobert Mao said.
Mao also said that its not beyond hate that most people are currently criticizing him.
“Most of the people talking don’t have a problem with the documentation or cooperation. Their problem is Nobert Mao. I call them haters,” Nobert Mao added.
By virtue of the authority conferred on the President by Articles 113 (1) and 114 (1) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, President Museveni also appointed Hon. Hamson Obua (Government Chief Whip), Hon. Akello Beatrice Akori, Woman MP Agago (Minister of State for Economic Monitoring Office of the President), and Hon. Peter Ogwang (Minister of State for Education and Sports).
