By Website Writer; The most important place in the country right now in Kenya is “The Bomas of Kenya” as it’s where the official announcement of the final results of the Presidential elections will take place in the next few hours.
At Bomas, security is getting stiffer, all the verification desks are now empty, Diplomats area is slowly being occupied unlike previous days when it has been empty.
With media on Monday reporting more than three quarters of votes counted, only two desks on a tallying floor that has been a hive of activity since the verification process started were occupied by electoral commission staff and party agents, out of more than 12 before.
By reporting time, Kenya’s Deputy President William Ruto was still in the lead of the tight presidential race against opposition leader Raila Odinga, official results reported by Kenya’s media showed on Monday.
The announcement from electoral authorities on the winner by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is slated on Monday, August 15, 2022, at 3PM.
The winning candidate must get more than 50% of votes.
The election commission announced on Sunday that Deputy President William Ruto’s party won the governorship of Kenya’s capital Nairobi, handing Ruto’s party control of East Africa’s wealthiest city.
Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta, who has served his two-term limit, fell out with Ruto after the last election and has this time endorsed Odinga for president.
