By Website Writer; The Uganda Police has kickstarted investigations into the recent allegations by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, who purports that a group of unscrupulous individuals are targeting her with death threats.
Speaking during the weekly Police briefing at the Police Headquarters in Naguru, Uganda Police Spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, security has been beefed up at the precincts of Parliament and also the residence of the Speaker Anita Among to ensure her safety.
Speaker Among made the revelation during the Parliament session on Thursday September 8, 2022 as she claimed that her daily routes and routines are being tracked by unknown people.
Among who concurrently serves as the member of parliament for the Bukedea District Women Constituency, vowed not be scared by those planning to kill her because she was appointed to serve as the Speaker by God.
“There is a report on an attempt to assassinate me, up to now I am still being followed. Whoever wants to assassinate Anita, let me inform you that I was put in this chair by God and I will serve until I get tired,” Speaker Anitah Among told the House.
The Speaker’s revelations came in a time when she was in a heated-up debate with other government bodies over the fate of the Nyege Nyege festival.
