By Website Writer; The State House Anti-Corruption Unit working together with Police, has today Thursday October 13, 2022, arrested 5 Bunyangabu district officials over corruption.
The Principal HRO, Ikiriza Lucy was arrested for fraudulently enrolling 3 teachers on the district payroll without verifying their appointments with the Education Service Comm.
It’s on record that since 2021, government has lost over UGX50M as a result of their irregular appointments. The teachers are still at large.
In addition, the CFO, Basaliza Joseph, District Production Officer Yusta Asiimwe & the Agricultural Officer, Tumwesigye Gerald were also arrested for the mismanagement of over UGX90M meant for the Agricultural Cluster Development Project to improve the coffee & maize value chain.
The former Kabonero Subcounty Chief, Elon Rugumba was also arrested for the shoddy construction of the Kabonero Police offices/cells.
The right procurement procedure was not followed hence causing govt a loss of over UGX5.8M.
