By Website Writer; The Uganda Police has today, November 7, 2022 impounded several motorcycles in a traffic operation to crack down on errant boda boda riders in Kampala City.
The operation is intended to contain the boda boda accidents which police say, claim four lives every day.
Last week, the Spokesperson of Traffic Police, Farida Nampiima said that the Traffic police was to start boda boda crackdown operations on November 11, 2022.
The operation would target motorcycle riders without crash helmets, reflector jackets, driving permits, carrying more than one passenger and those without driving mirrors.
Going by the stats, Kampala loses at least 4 people in motorcycle related road crashes every day; lost 1,390 motorcyclists and 528 motorcycle passengers in 2021.
The latest victim is Jalia Nakiboneka, a student of Law Development Centre (LDC) after a trailer on Thursday last week crashed her dead at Makerere, Kavule in Kampala and the boda rider instead made-off unhurt.
