By Website Writer; Uganda’s satellite, PearlAfricaSat-1, has been launched into the International Space Station.
The satellite was launched on behalf of Uganda by American space agency, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
Mr. Bonny Omara and Edgar Mujuni are the two of the three Ugandan engineers and some Japanese who developed Uganda’s first satellite, and all were present during its launch into space on Monday, November 7, 2022.
Dr. Monica Musenero, the Minister for Science and Technology was the guest of honor at the launch of Uganda’s first satellite into space at Kololo Independence Grounds.
“We join the rest of the world to congratulate the Gov’t of ?? upon the successful launch of – Pearl Africa Sat-1,” a tweet by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
Pearl Africa Sat-1 satellite will support a vast range of services including Broadband connectivity, Navigation, Space Science, Climate & environment monitoring.
The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest modular space station currently in low Earth orbit.
It is a multinational collaborative project involving five participating space agencies: NASA (United States), Roscosmos (Russia), JAXA (Japan), ESA (Europe), and CSA (Canada).
