By Website Writer; Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake referred to the Committee on Rules, Privileges, and Discipline for alleged misconduct during Tuesday, November 28, 2022 afternoon’s Parliamentary sitting.
MP Zaake Francis is accused of snubbing the deputy speaker’s call to sit down and wait for his guidance as he raised the issue of the current spate of abductions of opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters by security operatives.
Hon. Zaake said that its not pleasant for the house of parliament to continue ignoring the on-going abductions and disappearances in the country.
“Judge and criticize me if you wish but history will remember that I turned up whenever the occasion demanded. The abduction, disappearance and extra judicial killing of hundreds of our people is too grave a matter of public interest for us to continue treating it lightly!” Hon. Francis Zaake stated.
“We want our people back! If you killed them, give us their bodies and we accord them the decency and dignity that they deserve in death. Their families must get closure!” Hon. Zaake added.
NUP President Bobi Wine has also applauded Hon. Zaake for the brave voice in parliament against the rampant abductions of their supporters.
“I applaud you Hon. Zaake Francis for making in Parliament today this passionate submission against the rampant abduction of our comrades. This is a matter of utmost urgency which all leaders must condemn and seek an immediate halt to,” Bobi Wine said.
However, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa instantly condemned Hon. Zaake’s act as posed as a disrespect to the house.
“I don’t care who you are but no one will be allowed to blackmail this House (Parliament),” Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa said.
Deputy Speaker also dubbed Hon. Zaake’s move as “drama” which he advised him to take to his constituency.
“If you want to do drama, go and do it in your constituency, you can’t do it on this floor. If you want pictures of people holding you up and how you were arrested to use during campaigns, we can organize for you,” Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa added.
