By Website Writer; With guidance from President YK Museveni, the IGP Martin Okoth Ochola has instructed the Director of Operations to reinstate all police roadblocks and checkpoints.
According to Uganda Police Spokesperson, SCP Fred Enanga, during the period with which the roadblocks were removed, it was observed that the vacuum had given leeway to wrong elements and criminals to commit crimes and escape.
Fred Enanga also revealed that the roadblocks are crucial in enhancing security during the 2022 festive season that is known for high risks of crimes.
He also said that the reinstated checkpoints will be supported by roving patrols and robust standby teams in different areas around the country.
President Museveni in October ordered the removal of roadblocks from all roads in the country.
The revelation was made by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja after a phone call conversation with the head-of-state.
Hon. Nabbanja noted that President Museveni said that roadblocks don’t detect crime but instead promote corruption and delay transportation of goods.
